존 로드와 리치 블랙모어라는, 딥 퍼플 최강의 쌍두마차가 함께 하던 시절의 명반으로서, 후배 락커들
에게 많은 영향을 주었다.
1980년대 말 속주 전성기 때조차도, 일본에서 쓰여진 이 앨범의 해적판 타블라춰를 구하지 않은 기타리스트 지망생이 없었을 정도였다고 하니... 이상적인 악곡과 주법을 동시에 지닌 곡인 <Highway Star>와 <Smoke on The Water>는 비단 기타만 아니라 전 파트에 걸쳐서 좋은 교본으로 쓰이고 있으며, 이런 추세는 새 천년 이후에도 신/구 세대 모두의 공통적인 취향인 듯...
